It’s SPRING BREAK for a majority of the schools around our coverage area!!

Below are the highlighted events for the week of  04.03.17 – 04.09.17.  NOTE: This is just a a small sampling of the area events taking place.  For more information on day-to-day events, please check out our Facebook group – Mid-Michigan Kids!

Monday, April 3rd:
>Spring Break Adventures @ Fenner Nature Center (Lansing) – 8:30a-4:30p
Sign up for one or all of Fenner’s full-day camps in the great outdoors. Participants need to pack their lunch and snacks.  Themes include:  Up In The Clouds, The Art of Nature, Mammals of Michigan, Gross Nature, and Wilderness Rangers. To register, call 517-483-4224.  Price: Per day: $35/Member, $40/Non-Member.

Tuesday, April 4th:
>Puppet Show @ Shiawassee District Library (Owosso) – 2p – 2:30p
Come on out for a story, puppet show, and a craft!

>Garden Crafts for Kids @ DeWitt District Library (DeWitt) – 1p
Crafts include flower suncatchers, birdseed cakes, and paper succulents! While supplies last.

Wednesday, April 5th:
>Symphonic Cinema @ Lansing Center (Lansing) – 7p-9p
One Night Only – presented in conjunction with the Capital City Film Festival and Lansing Symphony Orchestra featuring Disney in Concert:  Around the World. From Beauty and the Beast to The Little  Mermaid, journey to far off places around the globe.  This event is free and open to the public.  Reserved seating section is available to CCFF all-access festival pass holders.  Get your CCFF pass here!

Thursday, April 6th:
>ELPD Open House @ East Lansing Police Department (East Lansing) – 5p-8p
This event will feature demonstrations by the K9 and bike units, police vehicles on display, presentation by the Special Response Team (SRT), children’s activities, facility tour, Q&A with Chief Murphy and more!

>Pancakes with the Easter Bunny @ Eaton County Senior Center (Charlotte) – 5:30p-7:30p
Bring your camera to snap a photo with the Easter Bunny!  Enjoy pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham, and beverages. Cost is $7/adults, $5/children. Kids 2 and under eat free.

Friday, April 7th:
>The MSU Science Festival kicks off on Friday, April 7th and runs through Sunday, April 23rd.   Log on to their event page for a list of daily presentations, demonstrations, lectures, and more!  There is simply too much to going on to list it all here!

Saturday, April 8th:
>Civil War Drill @ Woldumar Nature Center (Lansing)  (Weekend-Long Event)
April 7th through 9th, the 12th South Carolina/4th Michigan Volunteer Infantry, Inc. will encamp at Woldumar Nature Center holding public demonstrations throughout the day on Saturday.  At 10:30a and 3p, the infantryman will hold musket demonstrations and skwirmish drills specifically for public viewing.   Throughout the weekend, they will hold drills, marches, and live the lives of Civil War soldiers.   There is no fee to observe, but donations are accepted.   A small fee to participate in candle-making.

>Fairy Garden Workshop @ Summit Landscape & Garden Center (Jackson) – 11a – 2p
Join Summit Landscape & Garden Center for their Spring Fairy Garden Workshop.  Kits cost $15/each and include a tray, one succulent, and one fairy plus all the mulch, stone, sand, and aggregate materials you need to create an amazing fairy garden.  Limited to the first 50 registrants.  Call 517-783-3355 to register!

Sunday, April 9th:
>Lansing Lugnuts v. Great Lakes Loons @ Cooley Stadium (Lansing) – 2:05p
The first pitch will be thrown at 2:05p sharp! And Sunday is Kids’ Day presented by Delta Dental.  Festivities include kids’ quiz, bat and swag giveaway, Potter Park Zoo, and clowns! Kids can play catch on the field pregame and run the bases post-game.  Purchase tickets here!

>One World One Sky @ Abrams Planetarium (East Lansing) – 2:30p
You don’t need a spaceship to learn about the sun, moon, and stars-just a little imagination! When Big Bird, Elmo, and their friend from China, Hu Hu Zhu, take an imaginary trip to the moon, they learn amazing things along the way. Admission: $4 adults, $3.50 students and seniors, $3 children 12 and under.
