LIFE: July’s Bucket List

images (1)WOW, July already!?  How can that be?  Every year I feel like April and May drag on and then the days go by lightening quick in June, July, and August.  We are in the midst of peak summer season now and before summer ends, be sure to check out these suggestions for your July Bucket List:

July 4th – Celebrate America’s Birthday by checking out a local parade and/or firework display!  Be sure to check out our Fourth of July blog for local events.

July 6th – East Lansing’s Moonlight Film Festival kicks off with a showing of The Secret Life of Pets.  Bring a blanket, a chair, bug spray, snacks, and enjoy a family-friendly flick.  Show time and more information can be found here.  FREE.

July 10th – July 16th – The Eaton County Fair returns to Charlotte for seven fun-filled days complete with tractor and truck pulls, motor-cross races, and demolition derbies plus carnival rides and games, food, fun, live entertainment and more.  For a complete list of events, check out the fair’s website.

July 11th, July 18th, and July 25thPlay in the Park in East Lansing’s Valley Court Park Tuesday evenings beginning at 7p.   Play in the Park is an interactive children’s entertainment series.  Pack a picnic dinner.  Event will be canceled if it rains.  FREE.

July 20th -23rd – The Riverwalk Theater presents Coraline.  Synopsis:  “Coraline Jones is a young girl who has just moved with her parents into a new flat in an old house.  Bored with her colorless surroundings and her busy parents, Coraline goes exploring and discovers a door unlike any in the house – a magic door that, when unlocked, reveals a passage to a strange world like her own.”  Tickets are just $8/child or $10/adult.  To order tickets, call 517-482-5700.

July 21st & July 22ndMichigan Ninja Warrior Festival at The Summit.  Pre-teen, Teens, and Adult Competitions levels.  Spectator admission is FREE.  Prizes to be awarded at all levels.  Non-competition obstacles for ages 4 and up.  Come out and try your favorite obstacles.  For more information including registration for competition, log on to http://www.michninjafest.com.

July 28th – August 5th – All of Us Express presents “Shrek The Musical Jr.”   Join Shrek as he embarks on a magical adventure to rescue Princess Fiona and to get his swamp back. This event reoccurs weekly on Friday and Saturday with showtimes at 7p on Friday, and 2p and 4:30p on Saturdays.  All shows are at the Hannah Community Center in East Lansing.  For more information and ticket prices, click here.
